Something for January

Psalms 37:7
"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes."

Haven't thought of a nickname for you yet, I'm working on it.

And in the news

First off, I would like to say that the World is in crisis.

"Intensifying solvency concerns about a number of the largest US-based and European financial institutions have pushed the global financial system to the brink of systemic meltdown." - Mr Strauss-Kahn

Secondly, on a lighter note. Fear it or not to fear it?

"The loneliest living species known to science was found inside a gold mine."
"Because it gets by without oxygen, it could offer clues as to whether life exists on other planets."

Lastly, "Yes, the blind can drive, but under supervision and instruction".

"Mr Costermans topped 308.78km/h (192 mph) while driving a Lamborghini Gallardo supercar at Istres, near Marseille, in southern France."
"Mr Costermans took the record from Briton Mike Newman, whose BMW M5 reached 268km/h three years ago."

In the midst of this current recession, this is what Finance Minister has to say...
"We should not assume that the worst is over and we continue to be watchful and prudent in our assessment of the economic risks and in our investments." - Dr Tony Tan
"We always look at the risk first," Tan said in January. "Our philosophy is if you look after the downside, the upside will look after itself." - Dr Tony Tan

On a lighter note

Something to actually blog about

"The incident is the fourth involving Qantas planes in just two-and-a-half months and comes as a survey published late Tuesday showed that 63 percent of Australians believe the safety standards of their flag carrier have slipped.

The poll of 1,000 people was conducted by UMR Omnibus, one of the country's leading research and polling companies, two weeks ago.

On July 25, an exploding oxygen bottle punched a huge hole in the side of a Qantas Boeing 747-400 during a flight from Hong Kong to Melbourne, forcing an emergency landing in the Philippines. No one was injured in the mid-air drama.

Just three days later, a Qantas Boeing 737-800 returned to Adelaide after a landing gear door failed to retract. And in early August a Boeing 767 bound for Manila turned back to Sydney after developing a hydraulic fluid leak." -
